We Need Your Help and DonationsWhat is SAAG?
Southam Area Action Group is being formed to fight the proposed high speed train route HS2, which has been planned through some of the most beautiful countryside in Warwickshire and onwards to London. What can I do?
SAAG and other action groups have structured themselves alike, so that the work group can interface during research and for submissions to the main umbrella group, HS2 Strategic Alliance, who will present the case to HS2 at the public consultation which begins in the autumn. Please have a look at the structure and see if you can help, either as a team leader or a group member in your area of expertise. We need people for the following groups:
- Administration, Secretarial and Public relations/media
- Business Group
- Legal and Compensation
- Economic and Financial
- Community Liaison
The Council for the Protection of Rural England have maps identifying the light pollution and zones of tranquillity in Warwickshire and the proposed route runs straight through the quietest and least polluted part of our country, devastating and blighting ancient historical villages and nearby towns as it does so. Under the proposals there will be a 4km viaduct about 15m high, carrying up to 20 trains an hour, at 250mph on the south west side of Southam. There is a map showing the details in Southam Library and on the website. Please join and help the fight!
